Definitions’ services, products and programs are supported by research conducted by graduate and post-graduate researchers. Endorsed by the medical and scientific communities, Definitions has had the opportunity to develop and present research papers such as the Grand Banks Case Study, The Value of Wellness, Obesity Prevention in Offshore Workers and Determining ROI for Offshore Wellness Programs. We are recognized as subject matter experts in the field of health and wellness and are regularly requested to speak at international conferences.


Robert Cahill

Wellness Clinic Manager

A graduate from Memorial University’s Kinesiology program, and a Certified Kinesiologist, Rob has been a part of the Definitions’ team since 2011 and is responsible for the oversight of Definitions Health and Wellness Clinic.

Rob takes a great deal of pride in his work and strives to provide clients with the capacity to do the things in life that mean the most - whether that means training to be a better athlete, or simply being able to pick up their grandkids. Through innovative program design, and close attention to detail, Rob ensures each client is provided with the best opportunity to enhance their quality of life, so they can enjoy it to its full potential.

He has had a strong track record in recruiting and managing staff who have gone on to advanced their careers in medicine and other fields of health and wellness such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy and chiropractics. Rob values having diverse team, from varied backgrounds and experiences to ensure that the team continues to grow, push new ideas and provide clients with the best opportunity to improve their well-being.

Andrea (Ange) Stokes

Registered Dietitian, BASc, RD

Andrea holds a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree from Ryerson University in Toronto. She completed her dietetic internship with Eastern Health in 2013 and she is currently a Registered Dietitian with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Dietitians (NLCD). Andrea also holds a board position with the NLCD, whose mandate is to ensure public protection within the profession of dietetics in this province.

Andrea has been working with Definitions for over 4 years, with extensive experience working in corporate, offshore, and clinical settings. Andrea uses her skills and knowledge in nutritional science to guide clients towards improving their overall health and wellness in a way that is practical, personalized, and sustainable for the long-term. Her goal is to help clients ultimately develop healthier relationships with food, so that they can live healthier and happier lives

Dr. Farrell Cahill, PhD

Lead Researcher

Dr. Farrell Cahill, PhD is a recognized leader in the field of obesity, diabetes and exercise physiology in Canada. Through his expertise in genetics, endocrinology and human physiology Dr. Cahill explores the aetiology and management of both obesity and diabetes to improve occupational health and performance.

Along with 16 years of research experience, he has published 26 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and 45 abstracts at national and/or international conferences. Dr. Cahill holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Kinesiology with a PhD in Medicine and is currently the Research Lead for the Medisys Health Group, working out of the Occupational Health Division in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.

Zach Hynes

Lead Kinesiologist Bsc.Kin (Hons), CSEP-CEP & CPT

Zach graduated from Memorial University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (honors) and is a Certified Kinesiologist with the Newfoundland and Labrador Kinesiology Association.

He is an Ergonomics and a Jobs Demand Analysis (JDA) subject matter expert who has performed many assessments for high-risk occupations. Zach is also an offshore kinesiologist/ergonomist who has worked on all of the Oil and Gas platforms/vessels offshore in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Steven Hendriks

Kinesiologist, Bsc.Kin (Hons), CSEP-CEP, NSCS-CSC, CFST

Steven graduated from Fitness and Health Promotion from Niagara College and he knew he wanted to start personal training. This motivation led him to pursue his university degree in Kinesiology (Honors) at Brock University, and most recently, his graduate program in Exercise Science for Health and Performance.

Steven is a certified exercise physiologist, strength and conditioning specialist as well as fascial stretch therapist. His main specialization is corrective exercise assessments and training and this service is greatly enhanced through Fascial Stretch Therapy certification. Steven ensures continuous quality of life improvement through better movement and strength increases.

With seven years of education and experience in the fitness field, Steven knows he can offer his clients the highest quality of service and results.

Jennifer Smith

Clinic Coordinator/MRO-A

Jennifer holds a college diploma in Medical Office Administration and is the Clinic Coordinator for Definitions and Horizon Occupational Health Solutions. She oversees our day to day clinic operations and our administrative team. She also holds the Medical Review Officer Assistant role for our local organization and is relied on heavily to provide advice and guidance regarding appropriate drug and alcohol polices for our clients.

She is always willing to lend a hand with clinical testing, scheduling of appointments and providing assistance to both internal and external clients. In Jennifer’s 10 years with the company, she has been impactful with all client requests and has a wealth of knowledge individualized for each client’s needs.

With her history being employed in medical offices throughout the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as her occupational health experience, she is an asset to our organization.

Kellie Toope

Office Administrative Assistant

Kellie is a 2018 graduate of the College of the North Atlantic Office Administration program. Originally from Clarenville, she is now residing in St. John’s and a new employee of Horizion OHS and Definitions.

Kellie is one of the friendly faces at our front desk that ensures all clients are greeted with a welcoming smile, and help ensure the most positive client experience possible.

Chris Lim

Certified Acupuncturist, Safety Wellness Coach

Chris is a Registered Acupuncturist and a Massage Therapy graduate. In the interim to becoming a registered Massage Therapist, Chris is aiding in the research study being conducted by Definitions in obesity and hormonal response to exercise.
