Our team of experts design customized wellness plans by employing validated approaches relevant to the individual and the organization by addressing nutrition, fitness, medical, and health and safety factors.

Definitions’ services, products and programs are supported by research conducted by graduate and post-graduate researchers. Endorsed by the medical and scientific communities, Definitions has had the opportunity to develop and present research papers such as the Grand Banks Case Study, The Value of Wellness, Obesity Prevention in Offshore Workers and Determining ROI for Offshore Wellness Programs. We are recognized as subject matter experts in the field of health and wellness and are regularly requested to speak at international conferences.

Offshore Kinesiologist MScKin, CSEP-CEP & CPT, CK

Zach graduated from Memorial with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and also has his Masters of Science in Kinesiology.

Along with being a Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology – he is a Certified Exercise Physiologist and a Certified Kinesiologist. Zach has instructed courses that are necessary for becoming a Certified Personal Trainer, and Canadian Society for Exercise Physiologist.

Certified Acupuncturist, Safety Wellness Coach

Chris is a Registered Acupuncturist and a Massage Therapy graduate. In the interim to becoming a registered Massage Therapist, Chris is aiding in the research study being conducted by Definitions in obesity and hormonal response to exercise.

Safety Wellness Coach, B.Kin (Hons)

Laura is a certified Kinesiologist with the Newfoundland and Labrador Kinesiology Associated. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and is working towards her Master of Science degree in Kinesiology. Her thesis project and occupational therapist assistant certificate from College of the North Atlantic has given her experience with a clinical population, while her personal lifestyle and academic achievements has made her a valuable tool in helping others reach their health and wellness goals. Laura looks forward to working with anyone ready to adopt a healthy lifestyle and benefit from what she has to offer.

Andrea (Ange) Stokes

Andrea (Ange) Stokes

Registered Dietitian, BASc, RD

Ange holds a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree at Ryerson University in Toronto.

She completed her dietetic internship with Eastern Health in 2013 and she is currently a Registered Dietitian with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Dietitians.

She also holds a board position with NLCD. Ange has experience working in a variety of clinical and community settings.

Alex Pulchan

Kinesiologist

An avid athlete, Alex has been involved with sports his whole life. He started playing basketball at a young age and represented Newfoundland & Labrador twice at the National tournament.

Alex pursued a degree in Kinesiology from Memorial University and started working part time with Definitions. A CSEP certified personal trainer, Alex worked part time throughout his time at school and joined Definitions in April 2013 upon completion of his degree.

Alex has since furthered his education by studying Safety Engineering Technology at College of the North Atlantic and is excited at what the future holds at Definitions!

Fitness Facility Supervisor

A graduate from Memorial University’s Kinesiology program, and a Certified Kinesiologist, Robert has been a part of the Definitions’ team since 2010 and oversees day to day operations of our fitness facility.

Robert takes a great deal of pride in his work and strives to provide clients with the capacity to do the things in life that mean the most - whether that means training to be a better athlete, or being simply being able to pick up their grandkids. Through innovative program design, and close attention to detail, Rob ensure each client are provided with the best opportunity to enhance their quality of life, so they can enjoy it to its full potential

Nancy Hicks

Physiotherapist

Nancy brings a wealth of clinical experience to the table and graduated with distinction from Dalhousie University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy. She is currently the only fully certified Mackenzie Method Provider in Newfoundland. The McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis utilizes the philosophy of active client involvement and education in the assessment, classification, treatment and prevention of back, neck and extremity pain.

A former Canada Games record holder and gold medalist in weightlifting, Nancy has a strong background in athletics and completed a Bachelor of Kinesiology from Memorial University in 2001.

Megan is a Canadian Yoga Alliance Registered 200 hour Teacher and loves to guide new
students in the practice of yoga. Megan has been practicing for over 6 years and came to
yoga after a back injury. It has helped her to find balance in her life and hopes to help you find balance and calm in your life.

Farrell Cahil

Lead Researcher

Dr. Farrell Cahill, PhD is a recognized leader in the field of obesity, diabetes and exercise physiology in Canada. Through his expertise in genetics, endocrinology and human physiology Dr. Cahill explores the aetiology and management of both obesity and diabetes to improve occupational health and performance. Along with 16 years of research experience, he has published 26 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and 45 abstracts at national and/or international conferences. Dr. Cahill holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Kinesiology with a PhD in Medicine and is currently the Research Lead for the Medisys Health Group, working out of the Occupational Health Division in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.

Massage Therapist

Stephanie is a registered massage therapist (RMT) under the CMTNL, with plans to further her education by becoming certified through the Canadian Sport Massage Therapy Association.

As a nationally qualified fitness competitor, Stephanie has a passion for health and fitness and enjoys working with a wide range of clients to reach their rehabilitation goals.

Brett holds a Bachelors in Kinesiology (Hons.) and a Masters in Public Health from Memorial University. With plans to continue his education by pursing a Medical Degree, he has a strong passion for helping the general public achieve their health and wellness related goals and improving the overall quality of life of his clients.

Along with being a CSEP - Certified Exercise Physiologist, Brett has experience working in a diverse range of health-related settings and is an avid runner and multi-sport enthusiast.

Janet Coombs

Office Administrator

Janet recently joined our team to take on the new position of office administrator. She graduated from Memorial University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science and is also a recent graduate of the University of Victoria’s Public Relations and Communication Program.

Along with several years of administrative experience, Janet also has over ten years of experience in a variety of customer service industries.
